Once back in Virginia, the Maryland client picked up their carpet and then Rodney had to figure out (1) how to get his roll off the truck, (2) what to tell his wife about the carpet, and (3) what to do with it! He was able to get some friends and skate wheel track to unload the carpet and store it in his garage until he could figure out what to do with it. A local carpet installer asked to purchase some and even asked for more. Rodney's wife, Sylvia, agreed to have some installed in their house (rumor has it that it is still there!). Rodney continued to travel back to Georgia and bargained with carpet mills in Cartersville and Dalton to get product to bring to Virginia. He rented warehouse space and began selling and installing carpet in Harrisonburg, VA and the surrounding area.
Fast forward to today: Rodney and Sylvia are still heavily involved in the business. Sylvia serves as the accounts payable and payroll supervisor. Rodney still greets customers and oversees the general operation of the business. We employ three full-time estimators, three in-house sales/design people, and three warehouse/delivery personnel. We typically keep four or five installation crews busy throughout the year installing carpet, vinyl, laminate, luxury vinyl tile/plank, VCT, and wood.
We have been providing quality products, service, and installation to the Shenandoah Valley since 1964, and as Rodney Eagle is often quoted as saying, “We've been in business for over 50 years, and we hope to be here for another 50.”
